Drum recording for a new song. I’m experimenting with microphone positions at the moment. What I’m very interested in is the Glynn Jones setup. The room mic I’m using here is a Blue brand ribbon mic, the Woodpecker.
I am also interested in the positions of the microphones, the alignment to the drumhead, the distance etc. Do I get more sound now when I turn the SM57 away from the snarehead or does the bleeding just get worse? What about the room? Since it is rather small, even though it is acoustically optimized, I have a lot of waves coming back from the near wall.
These experiments will help me in my training as an audio engineer and I hope that such experiences will help me further.
